Baskerville Type Specimen
Editorial Design, Typography

Type specimen for Baskerville, inspired by the typeface’s distinctively elegant letterforms.
I have likened Baskerville’s delicate flourishes to the petals of a flower, referencing Cicely Mary Barker’s poem, The Song of the Bluebell Fairy. The typeface and the flower share similar characteristics; “tall and straight and strong” bluebell stems are much like Baskerville’s thick, vertical strokes, while ornate blue petals resemble the typeface’s softer serifs.
The specimen takes the form of a small booklet, which opens to reveal a poster. A quote by Audrey Hepburn – a figure renowned for her elegance – emphasises Baskerville’s timeless beauty.
